Bad InDesign file or... is that just a PDF?

We have been fixing corrupt or bad Adobe InDesign documents for a few months now. We are getting some in every day and as such, when this email came in with two, apparent InDesign layouts, we thought nothing of going right to work on them... You can see how we fix the INDD files below, but basically, it was not working, yet the error message InDesign was giving was strange... so I dragged and dropped the supposed .INDD file onto the FlightCheck Professional icon and there it was... These files, which had the icon of Adobe InDesign and all on them, were not .INDD files (like the extension stated) but .PDF documents! FlightCheck Professional v6 clearly showed that to me... One should use FlightCheck AS SOON as the job comes in- would have saved this customer HOURS of wasted time... Hence this little film.
